Since 2011, the collaborative duo CHIAOZZA has created sculptures, paintings, works on paper, and installations inspired by Play and close encounters with the natural world. Over the course of this time, an internal lexicon describing imaginary botanical forms has enrooted in CHIAOZZA’s practice. One of these forms, the Giro, refers to a tall, stalky shape topped with a sphere. Loosely inspired by mushrooms, eroded geological formations, and coral, the tower-like forms stand like quiet sentinels, playful pillars, and stoic beacons in the landscape.
